The above picture shows an urban area being created in GPS TrackMaker®, with streets, avenues, rivers, big buildings, etc. As soon as the map is finished, it is saved in gtm format for future edition. To create a background map, save the file in map format.

In the side picture, an UTM 1:50,000 charts was scanned to GIF format and inserted in GPS TrackMaker®. After the map calibration, the tracklog of a local highway was shown exactly on the highway of the map.
