How to Edit Garmin BlueCharts?

This document is intended for those who wish to make minor corrections to BlueChart information displayed on a Garmin GPS, although the same principles could be extended to creating a chart from scratch. This is intended as a beginners guide.
A short tutorial approach is used to walk the user through making a minor modification to a chart, to display with the base BlueChart on a Garmin GPS. Though this example uses a GPS 276c for the screen shots, the same approach should work for Garmin GPS units which support uploading charts from Mapsource.
Garmin BlueCharts are an excellent source of data, but they do contain errors, they become out of date, and they are not always at a scale with the detail on them you would like. Using this guide you will learn how to create corrections to the charts, compile them, and load them into your GPS along with your other maps, through the Garmin MapSource interface .
