The latest version V2 comes with more features like it shows your geographical position in a map. Apart from this you can insert more maps according to the memory capacity of the device that can handle. The concept called “tiled maps “ is being used by this software, which means at once one set of memory tiles will be provided for the use and again these memory tiles can be changed automatically.

The software also shows your track and again you can keep the waypoints to know your direction, distance and time of your arrival. Even by using the same track again, you can get your returning way in the reverse direction.

If you have this software with the version 1 by any means
(which is without the map), then please update that to Version 2 (V2). Because
V2 won’t support the version 1 due to many bugs in it. V2 provides all the
features of Version 1.

How to Use

It’s very simple to use this software since it’s a freeware without any license fees. It’s an open source with the Java code programming on a virtual machine called “ewe”. Even the virtual machine is a freeware. So you need a GPS receiver to connect to your Windows Mobile Device. This uses a serial port (COM6: on my QTEK 9100), just like connecting with the Bluetooth connection to the serial port using Windows Pocket Bluetooth. Else if your device has built-in GPS receiver then also you can access this.

Secondly to use this software you need a map to show your position which you can get it from Google Maps, even you can get it from other sources as well. These websites provides on the pictures and the bitmaps but not any geographic information. For that you need to keep some points in the software to use the map as references. This can be done by providing a small text file, which gives latitude and longitude values. Apart from this you can use the calibrated maps also.
